The ways back to Eton Hall
After nearly about a month's experience I have already tried three ways back to Eton Hall. I think all of them have their own advantages and also disadvantages. So let's look into them together now.
Without a doubt that the first choice is just to take the bus. It is the easiest way back to Eton Hall. It takes the least time and also the least physical strength. What's more, if suddenly there is something arranged by MOE , just like the unexpectly meeting two weeks ago , waiting at the bus station is the best choice absolutely. But it seems to be so boring while waiting for the bus and it's really a suffering thing to get into bus together with so many people . And many times even I get into the bus ,I still can't get a seat . It's a big problem, especially for those who take laptops with them or those who don't feel well while taking a bus.
I like walking and was suffering from the problems to take a bus for a long time. So naturally I tried for another way back to Eton Hall , walking back . At this time , I want to thank to my roommate Fifsheng, it was him who had been lost for about 3 times in the same place and then found the nearest way back. Walking back is a good choice , we can know the places in singapore better and also have a exercise during the process, you konw, it's really good for our health. But it takes more time to back to Eton Hall and also you may feel very tired after 40 minters' walking. While I think the problems of walking are just OK. I can accept them.
I'm sure that the last way is very stange to all of you . Even i have just experience it for only one time . That day was Friday, after the class we got to the bus station as usual. We just got there a little later than others, but the truth was that we didn't get into the first bus. There was only an empty bus outside which was for the SM2 students back to Labrador. Then we directly got into the bus and just waited for the bus to start. After several minters, the SM2 students didn't come but it was the time for the bus to start . Then, the bus took only 4 SM3 students back to Labrador. After we arrived in Labrador , we took only about 10 minters back to Eton Hall. It was so funny and unforgettable. But also we can see that it's so unequel for the arrange of the bus by MOE to us students in Eton Hall. Every time we are waiting for the bus while the bus to Labrador is waiting for the students.
These are all what I want to share with you . Maybe you can try another different way from before after read these.
my first haircut
Lucky my roommate solved my problem! They had their hair cut before i planed to,which meaned that they had the experiment for me!Actually i thought that their haircut was not bad and much better beyond my expectation.Than i asked them where they had it and how to get to the barber.
In fact i never went out alone in Singapore because i have a bad sence of direction and i was afraid of being lost. However,i went out on my own for the first time just to have my haircut.luckly i t got to the right place.Surprisely i found that the barber was owned by chinese. When i said hello to them, they answered in chinese. As it was Sunday, there were a lot of people.I waited for a long time before it's my turn. However, compared with the waiting time, the time the hairdreser spent on me was quite short. But i was very content with my new hairstyle because it was not that bad and was quite cheap. It cost me $4.8 and that was the lowest price i've ever konwn.I'm happy with the result as it sweeped one of my worry.

What Are the Real Things You Want?
The old man asked the guy:" why were you so sad all the time?"
“ I was very poor. I wanted to be as rich as you.” Said the young man.
“ ok, I would give you one million .”
“ But you would become as old as me, were you willing for that?” the old man added.
The young man thought for a while and replied:” I didn’t want to become as old as you.”
“ So if I gived you one billion, but you would die in several days. Were you willing for that?”
“ Of course not.” young guy answered.
“you were now 22 years old which is one of the best period of your life. This was the biggest fortune of you. Health and happiness can’t not be measured by money. Now you owned the biggest fortune. So you were not poor actually.”
The old man walked away. Just left the young man thinking there.
The story ended. We also should think and ask yourself what is the real fortune you have? Is money really so important?
I can’t deny that money is important sometimes. But we should not be addicated to money. Money is not the whole part of your life. Nowadays many people are crazy about making money. The young are badly influenced by this phenomenon. In their eyes ,there is only money. People become more and more indifferent. It’s really the time to stop to think about what are the real things you want in your life?
In my opinion , money is just the servant of you ,not the master of you. There are many things which need you to value. Such as love ,friendship and health. Just enjoy every minute of your life no matter whether you are rich or not. All is but a cherry fair. Money cannot be forever. So life will become meaningful as long as you know what is the most important to you.
My hometown—Tongcheng
I was born in Tongcheng, not a large city but a city with long history. Now let me introduce it to you.
There is a very famous place in Tongcheng called six-chi lane which has a story behind it. In Qing dynasty, there was a prime minister named Zhang Ying who came from Tongcheng, once his relatives had a dispute with his neighbor, just because both of them wanted to enlarge their house, and they took a fancy to one land at the same time. Zhang Ying’s family required the neighbor to give up the land, but the neighbor didn’t agree. To maintain face, his family wrote a letter to Zhang Ying in Beijing about this matter, hoping that he would use his power to force the neighbor to give in. but Zhang Ying just replied with a poem telling them to be magnanimous and tolerant, he said that it was no need to do so just for the three chi land. His family then felt ashamed after reading his letter. So they decided to give three chi lands to their neighbor. And their neighbor felt sorry for Zhang Ying’s tolerance, so they gave back three chi lands, too. As a result, it came into today’s six-chi lane.
And Tongcheng is famous for Tongcheng Pai, which is a mark of brilliant literature. Towards the end of Qing dynasty, many literati such as Fang Bao, Yao Nai sprang up; they represented the thought of common people, voiced out their opinions bravely.
Another point to mention is my high school whose founder is Wu Rulun; he was a remarkable person who had been in charge of
Well, these are just a little about Tongcheng, if you visit Tongcheng one day, maybe you will know more about its history.
F,A,M,I,L,Y
In fact ,in the first month I didn't feel that homesick.Maybe it's because I kept in touch with my parents through the telephone in the first several days.Whenever I wanted to hear my mum's voice,I would pick up the telephone ,dial the familiar number and then I could hear the familiar voice .But later ,there were lots of things coming together , so I buried myself in dealing with them and no time was left for me to think other things ,including my family.
But now, maybe it is because the Chinese New Year's appraching that caused me badly homesick .The pictures of my parents and the scenes that I spent at my home would rush into my mind from time to time .What makes matters worse is that even meeting them on the Internet cannot easr my sever homesick .What I want to do is just to return to my hometown to get together with them ,to watch the Spring Festival Gala with them ,or to walk around with them .Obviously ,these are all the tiny things ,but they indeed left a deep inpression on my mind after all these years ,and I can still sense the happiness when we were together with each other.
The feeling cannot be described in words ,as it is delicate! But I have experienced it ,so I will never forget it!Maybe it can be called FAMILY!
Additional words to my elder sister:thank you and I miss you !
My Impressive Saturday(YSP)
I had a totally busy Saturday. After attending a lecture about QF and meeting my host family, I went to a small church outside the NUS, which was especially exciting.
I as well as my team members of camping was invited by our befriender several days ago. My curiosity was evoked when I was told what we were going to do --- making dumplings! There were many people chatting and busy preparing when we arrived. We washed our hands carefully and joined them. Actually, it is a shame that we didn’t know how to do it as a Chinese. Fortunately there were some seniors we could turn to.
On the surface, it seems like a piece of cake when we watched our parents make dumplings in China. But, you know, it is quite a difficult thing. At the beginning, we shaped the flour mixed with water into something like pancakes. It required much compatibility of both hands. Then we add stuffs of both vegetable and meat on the pancake. Finally, hide the stuffs in the pancake. According to every individual’s taste of beauty, the dumplings were made into different shapes. Some of them were so funny especially those made by Singaporeans. The ones in the shape of buns and sausages in particular stand out as examples of “Singapore style”. To be frank, those so-called dumplings made me speechless. But the most important thing was that we all had fun.
This was only a part of the party that night. Later we also had spicy Indian food and Vietnamese rolled-pancakes. We sat and chat casually with church members including a professor of NUS. They were willing to help us with our English. I didn’t imagine that we would be treated so kindly in Singapore. During our trip going back to Eton Hall, I saw beautiful sceneries of NUS outside the window. A pleasant mood suddenly occurred. Not only because of the sceneries, but also the warm atmosphere around me which was created by locals. Thank you, my friends. I have enjoyed myself very much. I am always glad to have time with you whenever it is possible.
Health Plan
It began in exercise, which dates back to the second Friday after we arrived here. Dr. Tan made an impressive speech which encouraged us to exercise regularly. So everyday, we pour out to jog on the hill. Naturally, this ”we” includes me.I found it exceedingly enjoyable to run in the sun, breathing in fresh air and appreciating the jungle along the way.
Apart from exercise, controlling food is also vital to health. I don’t eat too much that my stomach gets upset anymore, but stop eating before I feel full. Besides that, it benefits us to have more fruit than provided by the hostel.Just as the old saying goes, one apple a day, keeps doctors away!
There are many other tips provided by the expert to keep healthy. For instance, you should drink the minimum of 2 litres of water everyday, which is impossible for me to achieve. In addition, breakfast is of vital significance. Every morning, one glass of fresh water is needed, while too sweet beverage should be avoided.
It is now so popular to pay huge attention to diets and nutrition in my dormitory that my roommates are now planning to buy a weight scale together. I think it’s technically a good idea except that it might set off screams every evening.Conclusively, health is a vital issue nowadays, especially for young people like you and me. Because most of the time, we tend to overlook this problem. It’s better to prevent health problems than to make up for them afterwards.
