Last night, I was invited to City Harvest Church to enjoy a wonderful drama show. That’s fairly amazing! The composer of the show is so innovative that he or she sets the bible story in a modern background, which triggers an array of funny jokes and familiar dilemmas. Can you imgaine Jesus is utterly discredited merely by evil comments on facebook-like social media? Can you imagine those devils who flog Jesus wearing camouflage clothing? I was completely immersed into the fantastic performance and furthermore, it leads me to a deep reflection.
Put away the doubt when I saw that Jesus, murmuring “Your faith gets you healed”, covers Bartimaeus’ eyes, and the blind can see and takes off his special garment immediately. Later in the preach, pastor Kong Hee said Bartimaeus gets healed because he has faith and castes his garment. I agree with him.
How many of us wear a special garment when keeping pursuing in a frenetic pace or indulging in negative feelings?
Some people wear a garment of shame. A few are born disabled and they feel self-abased about the physical defect. A few acquire shameful harm from others and cannot walk out of the shadow. They are carrying heavy burden which actually doesn’t belong to them. As a common saying, “The miserable man must have his defect causes the misery.”If they keep grabing so-called shame which others don’t care, or sympathizes at most, they will have no chance to get rid of the misery.
Some people wear a garment of failure. They believe they’ll never succeed because they haven’t ever succeeded for once. They complain, complain and complain. The garment of failure is like a well-knit web wrapping them tightly and blocking the fresh air. Soon, they will surrender and abandon any effort. Then it seals a real doom to those wearing a garment of failure. If Edison surrendered after tens of thousands of failure, how can we enjoy bright light in dark now? Why didn’t he give up? The knack is that he absorbed lessons from failures and left them behind instead of putting them on.
So, don’t await others coming to save you out of the soup any longer. You are the very Messiah of yourself. Just cast away those heavy annoying garments and move forward to continue your life journey with a fresh body!

Life is filled with setback. So it is unavoidable to come across some difficulties in our life. As you mentioned we are the very messiah of ourselves, so we should encourage ourselves and never give up. However, the competiton in the modern society is very fierece. It is very difficult to succeed without others' help. However, we should not just depend on others' help.We should stive against the difficulties and at the same time we should also receive others' help because it makes us succeed more easily.
ReplyDeleteReally great! Deep thoughts! I like it ! Indeed, being ourselves is easy to say than done.Just cast away those heavy annoying garments and move forward and upward !
ReplyDeletefantastic language! I'm wondering what a intelligent brain you have to memorize so many new words and expressions. What's more, some of new words I can only recognize, while you can use them freely in your article!
ReplyDeletebut if we cast all our garment, we will be exposed to the entire world! embarrassment...=.=!!!
I like that parable too!Actually the next day I started reading the Bible, hehe~Those morals, displines taught in the Bible are really inspiring.Besides, its language is really beautiful just like Ms.Leo said.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you enjoyed the play!I like the last paragraph about garment of failure. That was the most well-written one. There are some expressions that I'm not sure about though, like 'save you out of the soup', the common saying, and the 2nd paragraph.
