Culture Shock in Singapore

It might be a wonderful chance to live and study abroad.I've been to Singapore far away from home for a month, and it's time to put some thoughts down.Having got acquired more with the people, the customs, the culture of Singapore,I can make out the meaning of " culture shock",which I just heard before.
I heard that, culture shock is mainly caused from the difference between two culture when some one go abroad. The new arrival seems fantastic and he will be pleased and excited by all of the new things encountered. But after a period of time ,the person may have some difficulties and troubles in daily life. There may be feelings of loneliness, sadness, and feeling homesick. This means the person is adapting to a new culture that is very different from the culture of origin.Step by step he will gain some understanding of the new culture.A new feeling of pleasure may be experienced.Next,he personally realizes that the culture has good and bad things to offer. He is being accepted in the new society. When he come back to his own country,a new environment should be adapted in return.Culture shock is not negative. As a process to be a global and comprehensive person, culture shock is necessary. If everything in the new place is just like home,no learning will come from being there.Am I all right?
I know if I want to be incorporated into a new world,I must get used to the culture, even if I try to speak with the local only to receive confusion;even if I hesitate in supermarket for necessary commodities but don't know what the English names mean; even if sometimes I have to force myself to wolf down all distasteful food applied by hostel just not to starve.
However, what shocked me most was the Christians here.A few days after our arriving in this foreign country,we were fetched with curiosity to have church by local friends. There ,we were deeply astonished by the environment .The pastor said so many things about the Lord Jesus, and we(technically, they) praied, sang songs, showed loyalism to the infinite."He is our forever lasting father--Jesus is a mighty God,he will be around with us if we follow his faith!--we are equal--and he would help us to avoid disasters, diseases if we always pray and repent!!--Let's pray together!!No matter whether you believe Christ---tonight,we will have blessings!Tonight,we all hold candles!Tonight God will come to us!---Close your eyes!Raise your hands!Listen to our souls! We should repent. We all offenders! He will forgive us !--Let's sing together!!O COME LET US ADORE HIM!O COME LET US ADORE HIM ! O COME LET US ADORE HIM! CHRIST THE LORD...HALILUYA!!"The pastor said so.I was really shocked by the atmosphere and the flourishing in church. As a freethinker,I couldn't accept this faith immediately. But I also bowed my head ,standed and made wishes as respect the whole night .In fact the values of Christ are saint as well, for example, the appeal for peace, love, and forgiving others even he is the murder having killed your family. This is Christ I saw in Singapore.Moved impressed,I experienced after all.
It's often the most challenging things that have the most benefit. From contract between the two country, I learnt to be more respectful and objective.Academical capabilities I am going to learn here will also have a significant impact on my future.Culture shock is not a fear for me because I always regard experiencing as treasures in my life. After all ,there are parents supporting me from the remote.Sometimes,I feel sort of homesick, but it does not so serious for I have new friends here .Since being far away from motherland,my hometown,my family,my prior friends and teachers,I do hope they can lead wonderful lives.I can hear the voice of home by the moonlight at night, and it tinges my every day with happy feeling.

  4. "Life is like a box of chocolate that you will never know what appears next." But I believe all kinds of chocolate are delicious if you appreciate what you have got.

  9. Shock, fresh, and used to is the common norm abroad for the first time. Just enjoy the process above, dig all the potential recreation patiently when the country is still full of discoveries...but slow down'cause time is a little bit long compared to the size of the point...

  10. To be honest, when I was in China,I couldn't undertand that a lot of things were different from China in Singapore. Now,I know the reason. The different culture has an different effect on these things. We must adapt to it.
