Here is a quiz to see whether you are selfish or not. In the morning, the bus to NUS comes punctually. When you get on the bus, there are only two seats left and you walk before another student. You have known that there are two seats and two persons only, so there is no need for you to vie with others. Then what will you do, walk straight to the nearer seat or go to the farther one? If the other person is one you have good terms with, then you may choose the farther seat and let him or her go to the nearer one. But what about a person you don’t know well or at all? Will you still do like that? It’s actually a really tiny particulars that most of us won’t pay attention to it. And maybe you doubt how this can judge a person. Well, I just give an example I think meaningful. It’s not a famous quiz invented by a famous person.
I feel very sorry that my first mind is always to take the nearer one and I often do so. Only when my second mind comes and I remember what I should do, then I will choose the farther one. I know it’s not good and I am now trying to correct it, trying hard to make my second mind become the first one. Can you understand what I want to say? If not, just ask me!
I think about this because of a short message from my friend in China. She told me that Chinese Prime Minister Wen Jiaobao once said China needs students who usually look up at the sky. What does looking up at the sky mean? You know in China we say one who gets his peoples’ hearts gets the world. “Sky” in China means the world. Premier Wen hopes we can be persons caring about the people, the country, the world. Maybe the country or the world is too big to us. We just begin with thinking for people around. And this is what I want to say finally.
I want to ask you a question here finally. When you brush your teeth every morning, have you ever thought of putting your head lower so that water won’t run away and spatter others?

Take it easy Summer, you are so kind ~
ReplyDeleteYou are really friendly and considerate. Perhaps everyone is born selfish, as they are educated(not only in class, but by people around him), he learns to consider more about others.
ReplyDeleteHAHA!My answer to your last question is YES!Because I've been bothered so many times, and I don't to bother others any more .Yes ,it is really very considerate of you !!
ReplyDeleteWell,in fact I'd love to sit behind. But sometimes we only think about ourselves. Many times I can't stand the students pushing each otehr only to get on the bus in the afternoon. I don't know why they want to come back to Eton so much. But they are all our classmates and friends,I can't argue or fight with them. So just like Elain says, take it easy, and do what we should do. Then you will feel better.
ReplyDeleteHi Summer, it gets me thinking too. I usually get on the the nearest seat. This is to enable others to conveniently walk on and take the next one. But then again not everyone thinks that way. It is really a personal decision - WHERE do I want to be in the bus - with my friend? to be alone with my thoughts for the 30 minutes ride?
ReplyDeleteto be honest, i am a selfish man according to your theoyry. details can reflect a person's quality. so take care of the details in our daily life then we will become more unselfish
