!!!>.
I broke my cup again! I cannot even remember how many cups have I broken since I come to Singapore. But this time is much more severe than any of similar cases before, cause I stepped on the one tiny piece of fragments barefoot the next day even though I had cleared up my broken pieces! Blood drops one after another onto the floor, beautifully and gracefully as it could be, just like my life, tragedy as it is, I manage to make it colorful and bright as blood, fresh blood that just spilt from artery veins.
I cannot find a proper adjective to modify my life these days. Even the word “cup” which has the same pronunciation with “tragedy” in Chinese and incredibly popular among the youth, was far far from enough to depict the life I am now suffering. What a total mess! A total DAMN!
It’s universally acknowledged that Shakespeare has four well-known tragedies, but few know about the fifth. It’s me! And now I will reveal it to all of you.
At the first place, the topic of our research has long been a headache for our group. The topics we came up with were all aborted without even one drop of blood spilt. Then a creative idea popped out, which was sure to shock everyone and which, we thought, can make sense to us all. But it’s such a dangerous and challenging topic that every tutor who heard of our plan suggested turning it down and changing another topic. I had to surrender at last when all my group members agreed to change. In reality, I’m clear that our previous topic is on the edge of moral; but I just cannot understand why my brain is always bombarded with ideas that are weird and challenging.
Maybe I am the one surviving on the edge of a cliff, one mistake leading to loss of all. However, this is not the only thing that drives me crazy.
Another annoying thing is my plan to watch the 3D movie “Clash of the Titans”, of which the story, Greek mythology together with Homeric epic, has been one of my favorites since I was a little boy. At first, I intended to ask several of my friends to watch it on 3th April just after our bloody checkpoint together with me, cause I have formed the habit of hanging out for amusement and revel after big exams. Whereas it seems that no one has much interest on this movie, which disappointed me a lot. Despite of this, I managed to book a ticket for myself as planned. Once I determined, I don’t want to change my mind any more, although I am skilled at changing my expression on my face.
Glad that I enjoy both friends’ company and solitude. Needn’t to manage a smile, needn’t pretend to be happy, needn’t to mind what others are thinking, just let sorrow exude, flush or pour, as bold as it could be, to the top of its bent.
Just let it go.
If only I had merely these little trifles!
To my greatest horror, the ultimate boss is the checkpoint. Obviously, it’s impossible to prepare for it in just 2days. However, optimistically, I can be well-prepared for a warning letter!
Forethoughts, do you have?
Long ago, I had noticed that a lot of my local friends had forethoughts. Though Lin is just a second year university student now, she has begun to prepare her project for the graduation. To me or to Chinese students, it’s unimaginable. We may need to plan our study for one or two months in senior high school but we seldom have a study plan for over 2 years. Nevertheless, it seems fairly usual in NUS or, we can say, in Singapore. This difference results from the different education we received in the past years. It’s true that Singaporean students are not as good as Chinese students in mathematics and physics. They are also less diligent than us. But we are much weaker in skills and methods. We are not farsighted. At least for me it is true. We don’t have the habit of planning our future far earlier than it really comes. Some of us even don’t know how to plan.
Some may argue that if you plan everything well at such an early time, what will happen if your direction is unfortunately wrong? Some may think it better to change your plan according to your studies and the environment.
I am not saying that foresight is definitely needed. It depends on different people. But in my opinion, it’s quite useful. I think of it as a necessary element of success. I am short-sighted not only in sight but also in my life. I don’t like it. I want to change it.
Tracing Our Roots
I take part in the giving program which is organized by MOE. I am allocated to Bedok South Secondary School which is very far from Eton Hall. Last Friday was my first day to teach the students so I got up at half past six. It took me about one and half hours to get there. To be honest, the first experience is very terrible. I was very disappointed with Singaporean Chinese students. On the one hand, few of them listened to me carefully. Some were drawing pictures; some were writing words on their textbooks; some even talked with their neighbours in Singlish which I couldn’t understand. On the other hand, the students’ Chinese was very poor. Before I went to the school, I thought all the students in my class were Singaporean Chinese. Their ancestors came from china. Chinese is their native language. So communicating with me in simple Chinese should be no problem. However, the fact was that most of them could not communicate with me in Chinese even some basic communication in our daily life is difficult for them.
I am confused why this condition can occur. Is English better than Chinese? Or is English more widely used than Chinese? In my opinion, whatever reason it is, as a Chinese descendant, they can’t communicate with a Chinese in Chinese. They can’t use their native language fluently. Isn’t it ridiculous? Here I don’t mean English is not as good as Chinese. In contrast, I have to admit that English is the most widely used language in the world. It is a very useful tool to get further education. So we should learn English well. In this point, Singapore Chinese do very well, I think. But I want to say is that when they study English, they should not forget Chinese—their native language. Don’t think it is an anguished thing. With the rise of China, Chinese is becoming more and more popular in the world. Maybe Chinese will become the world language in the near future. Who knows? So it is not a bad thing to learn their native language well. Otherwise Singapore will lose its bilingual advantages.
Fortunately, Singapore government have realized this problem. They set up Chinese lessons in school and have a Chinese test in the examination for entering a higher school. But I think it is not enough. I think the government should encourage the Singaporean Chinese to talk with their children in Chinese at home which will improve the students’ Chinese very quickly.
The blood flowing in their vessel is Chinese blood so they should never forget their native language—Chinese. From now on, trace their roots. It is not too late.

When Privacy Meets Intimacy
An interesting episode of Friends left on me great impression; it depicts the interesting collision of the need of personal space and the expression of affection.
But what extent is a proper one? That is hard to say. Even though technically the criterion should be dependent on differences of cultures, with the development of globalization, there are still some principles we should adopt. I have the experience that my head teacher in junior high school used to get very close when she was talking to me. It was nearly twenty centimeters in between and I was very uncomfortable. When I drew backwards, she moved forwards and kept the distance precisely of twenty centimeters. In that case, personal space is a more important matter to consider. In daily life, between strangers or acquaintances but not friends, there should be enough space in respect for privacy of one another.
Conclusively, sometimes privacy should be put before intimacy, while sometimes the former should give way to the latter. It’s not easy to decide on the degree and the occasion. As for
Are Zoo Necessary?
Advocates of zoos hold the belief that the benifits of zoos to any community are conservational and educational. To begin with, it is an effective way to preserve some rare animals and endangered species in zoos. It is a fact that the natural environment is no longer a suitable habitat for some species which are on the edge of extinction. Zoos help increase the population of endangered species and thus maintain the ecological balance. Moreover, zoos also serve as an ideal scientific research center where scientists can conduct experiments to find out some causes of diseases which trouble animals a lot. In addition, It has an educational function. If there is no zoo, ordinary people seldom have the opportunity to look at the animals in such a short distance.
Some other people, however, strongly against zoos for several reasons. Primarily, it is normally wrong to take an animal from its home, confine it in unnatural settings and use it as our entertainment. Further more, Overcrowding and unnatural grouping of animals can create stress and do harm to their health. All the animals are in a small cage. They are trained to perform everyday. They feel very tired because the quantity of exercise everyday is much larger than what they should have. Worse still, some animals which should live in the south pole will feel very uncomfortable here. They cannot stand the hot weather. They are restless and sleepy.
In the final analysis, I believe that animals belong to their natural habitats in the wild. We human beings don't have the right to force them away from their hometown. But if they are extinct, we can do something to save them. After that we should put them back to their habitats. I hope I can see that scene that all the animals and humans can get along well with each other on the earth because we are all the hosts of the earth.
The most heart-breaking news during recess
Within just 55 seconds, 8 lovely pupils were deprived of their lives ruthlessly by this evil. Maybe those 8 students went to school happily that morning and waited patiently outside their school due to time had not come for them to go into school. But minutes later, they were knifed to death abruptly. They even had no time to ask for help or had a look at the evil who took away their lives.
A storm of public indignation at it arose when the heartbreaking news was broadcast throughout the whole China. All the people were dismayed at it. No one of us could think of a reason why he chose to kill these children who have no relationship with him at all. Every one of us wants him to be sentenced to death as many times as possible in order to show our resentment towards him.
But on another thought, why he chose to kill these young people? Is it because got a mental disorder or these children offended him before?
When we look back on Zheng’s life experience, we come to realize that everyone’s life is full of miserable stories, Zheng included. When he was young he prided himself on being a graduate from a medical secondary school. A certificate at that time is much valuable than certificate from a top university nowadays. Zheng thought it can ensure him a very good job, but life was not as easy as he thought. His family background made his certificate worthless. Eventually he got a job just in a clinic. This seemed to be the first lesson Zheng learnt from real life. He was not satisfied with his job, more importantly, he started to defy our society.
Later the way his clinic distributing its staff’s salary hurt him again. As a doctor he enjoyed the sense of accomplishment, but when it came to his salary, he suffered a lot. His extremely low salary even cannot let himself live all by himself, he had to live and eat in his parents’ house. Because of his low salary he had been rejected by seven or eight girls. The sharp contrast made him started to suffer depression. This situation got more and more severe with the time passed by. But he buried all his thought inside himself and never let others know.
And people around him seldom cared him heart and soul. It’s said that two days before Zheng committing this murder, he talked to a female neighbor that he wanted to make a suicide. Instead of comforting him, his female neighbor dared him to kill some others in revenge for society. Maybe it is these words that lead Zheng to commit this frightening massacre.
It is blatant that Zheng should shoulder the biggest share of responsible; nevertheless, our society’s system on distributing wealth is also guilty. And if China put more effort on its civilians’ mental health treatment and people reach out their hands to help people around them, this tragedy may not be heard.
While this incident is not the first, nor the last one. Each of us is part of the society, we should clear for what we should do to avoid something like this happen any more !
Clutter and Clutter--@_@
I see my pretty fellows making effort to review the differentiation ~ or to make time to play even faced with the checkpoint. Frankly, I think myself lacks preparation a lot for the coming exam. Time has been so limited for us to master the little knowledge we were taught, that I doubt whether I really learn something.
Although I take a interest in Communication and Media of School of Computing, I really wonder if I am able to learn programming well. Up till now, I’m always struggling to understand the C language… what if I managed to enroll in the major and find frantically that I totally can’t catch the lectures at all…
Moreover, I like the Food Science and Technology as much as the CM. On the one hand it confused me a lot because they have the same status in my mind, on the other hand, after I attend the CSC lecture on various majors in NUS, I acknowledged that it was difficult to be admitted to the major FST, Every year it only accept 50 to 60 students. To make things worse we have to pass a interview if we apply for FST. What if I am rejected? Will the second major I choose take effect?
Or will I just be kicked out from NUS because no faculty wants me…
All days I’m considering about such kind of things. With the Judge Day coming closer day by day, I can’ t help getting addicted to that kind of, somehow ridiculous thoughts. But I just simply can’t stop myself.
Now comes the checkpoint exam, I am really concerned of it. Afraid of receiving the warning letter, or the so-called “tea time” in MOE, my mind was cluttered up with those mass… What a disaster…

What Does the Future Have in Store for Me
So here comes the problem:Most of us don't know what we really want.In other words we even don't have a specific goal or dream to pursue,to motivate us.
Actually I was upset about such problems as well when I was in my final year in senior high, desperately trying to figure out what I really want in my future, what I suppose myself to be in the future.Since I started my school life,my only goal had been competing for the first prize in every examination. In addition,I had been so obedient a daughter that no matter what my mother told me to do,even though I felt unhappy ,I would obey.My mum wanted me to learn Olympic mathematics, then I went to Olympic mathematics calss on weekends, never skipping a lesson. My mum wanted me to learn calligraphy, then I went to calligraphy class during my several summer and winter vacations and kept practising at least 2 hours a day during school time.My mum chose the schools I attended, the books I read, the programmes I watched, the activities I took part in,the food I ate,the things I used in my daily life...All those years I lived under my mother's direction. She,instead of myself, palnned my path.As a result, when faced with the decision on what to major in my university,I suddenly realized that I was totally aimless.I even never thought about my future.Every day I was only lost in piles of exam papers, struggling to get good or excellent marks.
In such a situation as long as you get numbed, then everything appears fine. However, once you are awoken, you will feel that you are at a stormy sea, thunders blasting around interspersed with flashing lightnings, but without any clue to escape, any clue to find your destination.I remained anxious for quite a long time, pondering upon my past, analyzing my characteristics, trying to find my niche. After that painful period of time,I finally figured out my coordinate in life.It is extremely elated to be aware who you are now and what you want to be.Now the storm has gone and bright sunshine is shining above your head. You can see your direction clearly and strive for your destination enthusiatically.Every day is refreshing and lively because you have a goal ahead, you have a nice dream to pursue.
But now even though I have a dream,it seems that I have little chance to realize it--I want to be a diplomat. In fact I did apply for the Foreign Affairs College after my NCEE results came out. What is a tragedy for me is that my marks are enough but I was kicked out due to my a little bit lower height than its standard:(.Here in Singapore we are only allowed to choose majors from engineering, science and computing, but Ms.Leo said that if I want to be a diplomat,I'd better study in the law school. So again I feel perplexed about my future.
What does the future have in store for me?Maybe it is determined by myself, but there does exist something in my life that I can't control...
My Thoughts on Love Aroused by Cares
Before I came here, I once wrote a remembering letter to a girl whom we never had chance to put our hearts and souls into being together despite we had favorable impressions on one another without having exchanged a word of explanation even in nowadays. However, we all have dreams to pursue; we all have an unknown but promising future. We have to stay away. But there are some areas in which we can lay the foundation for happiness. There is nothing better than we treasured the warm feeling of love inside the heart.
Although, I never have a clear idea about who will be my better half, I have my thoughts on the qualities that my future spouse should have. These are not excessive requirements. I also know many qualities that women would look for such as dependability, humor and the heart to be big of her. I still try my best to perfect myself with them.
In my view, four characteristics are essential for a marriage partner. Compatibility is very important because spending the rest of your life with someone is a huge commitment, and without compatibility in values and interests, and goals, it could be a struggle rather than a partnership. Likewise, without acceptance and affection for us as a pair, I could risk the relationships I have with my family members. I also think that my ideal marriage partner should be a pretty lady with whom I always feel comfort and appreciation. One must simply surrender to a beauty and she never fail to attract me. There is a saying: Beauty is Danger, thus following my forth characteristic I hope with my girlfriend---fidelity, in another word, honesty. The expression of love will be limited to my partner. Definitely, if I married with a deceitful woman, it goes without saying that we would lead a inharmonic life as we plot against each other because we never had trust.
Of course, it must be noted that these criteria may change with time as I mature with the myriad of experiences that is sure to come my way. In time to come, I am sure a more complete picture of my ideal love will emerge.
recess trip
We chose a trail instead of the main road as we hoped to explore the wild. However, we were cheated by the big map. From the map the part seemed to be quite a big place, but actually it was only a so tiny place that it didn't took us long to cover all the points on the map. You shouldn't expect a big thing in Singapore especially when you came from China. Anyway, we saw the little pond and the picnic point. We played in the picnic point as there were a lot of equipments even though they were intended for children. Some of us had real fun there, such as Hello.
The summit is an essential place for the climbers. After we finished our break we kept on climbing. Even it's a small hill, with the bag full of food, climbing still required a lot of energy. It was wet around us and the heavy pressure could be sensed, but it just wouldn't rain. What's worse, Walter had a little accident. Luckily Windy brought bandage with her and that helped Walter move on. We reached the summit before we knew it, because we had expected the journey to be longer. The 164-meter-high hill didn't give us much beautiful view as the hut on the top was surrounded by tall trees. After we began our lunch at the hut, something bad happened on me. Somehow I was not comfortable in my stomach so I had to run down the hill for the toilet. Fortunately I got some medicine from Hello and got better.
On the bus as we returned, most of us fell asleep. It is a watery but tired trip, but what matters is that we arranged this all by our own and it provides a precious chance to know each other better. Hope to have another recess week and such get together again. And hope everyone to be safe and comfortable the next time.
The Lord of the Rings
The Lord of the Rings is really a wonderful film and it is very difficult to rendering the whole of it by only several hundred words. So I just want to share some of my feelings (it is also impossible to share all of my feelings, because there are so much) about it.
"The Lord of the Rings," the central figure has nine Race: Hobbits, Dwarves, human beings, Elves, Wizards, Trolls, Ents, Orcs, Ringwariths and Uruk-Hais. Each race has a different life, customs, myths, and even dressed in martial arts, each one race in the Ring with a full show out to create a transcendent reality, but very real fantasy world. I like the Hobbits most even they don't have strong bodies, they don't have beautiful looks and even they are not very smart. But they are mildness and kind-hearted, they like nature and have the pure mind just like children. At the beginning of the film when it is Bilbo-Baggins’ 110th birthday, I was really impressed by the beautiful firework and the song sung by the Hobbits. It was just a life that everyone hopes to own. And it was just for that kind of life, Frodo-Baggins (the protagonist of the film), a Hobbit who is a little shy but has the character of integrity, toke over the duty to destroy the Ring. Though he had the help of Lord of the Rings expedition, he still must continue to resist the spell from the Lord of the Rings.
All members of the Lord of the Rings expedition have their own characteristics. Like Sham, he represents the noble virtues, simplicity and loyalty, he is the representative of Hobbit, and he has the most loyal of Frodo's friendship, and even willing to through fire and water for friends, it surely means to him. Throughout the film, he never leaves Frodo and never give up even when Frodo misunderstood him. If possible, I just want to make friends with such kind of people. And Merrill and Pippin, also Hobbits, they like games and always have hope for the future, even when they faced the cruel war they also showed their brave even though others never gave hope to them. Gimli, a very forthright dwarf, and Legolas, the Goblin King's son. They bicker along the way and bring lots of jokes to the story.
Through the whole movie, we are shocked by the huge power of the Dark devil Solon and his Orcs army. But also we are impressed by the belief of the righteous side. And also the love story between Wizard Princess Arwen and the Human beings' king Aragon is really an unforgettable thing during the movie, it's really different and much more beautiful at that kind background.
At last, the Magic Ring was destoried. And a new world began.
While, there are many things we can learn from the people in the movie, the hope, the brave, the loyal, the happiness, the sense that never give up and so on. If we all own those Glitterings, then, also a new world of us will begin.

The Earth Hour
Some days ago, we were informed that on the night of Saturday, we should turn off the lights of our dormitories for one hour and there were plenty of interesting activities waiting for us during that time. So when it came to 8:30pm, our leader turned off the light and I went out with my friends. It was so peculiar that nearly all the lights were turned off-only left few essential lighting facilities and it was very dim. I went downstairs following the crowd. Some time later, we assembled on the playground where many students performing energetic dances. After the performance, we went to the canteen to take part in activity. Finally at 9:30pm, we counted down and when we counted zero, all the light were turned up we cheered together. It was really a wonderful experience.
I was very glad that we turned off the light initiatively although the electricity wasn't cut down. Later I knew from the Internet that almost every countries had taken part in the Earth Hour activity. Many famous places of interests also turned off the light such as the Bird Nest in Beijing, the pyramids in Egypt, the Sydney Opera......the purpose of this activity is to enhance people's consciousness about saving resource as the resource of our earth is becoming less and less. But we should not only save energy in only such an hour. We should be aware of this all the time. As the world developing fast, the need of resource becomes greater, but if we exploit it without limit, what will we left for our descendants? The situation is so severe that we should form the perspective of saving and regard every hour as the earth hour.

Don't Wanna Say Goodbye
I still remember that noon when it rained at the summit of Bukit Timah. I lay down on the wooden chair, watching the rain falling down quietly. The eave, the crossing branches, the glittering drops made my memory flood back. The scene was just like what I used to saw in my childhood. When I slept by my mother on rainy afternoons, I felt it quite intolerable when my mother fell asleep while I didn’t. But now, I don’t even have the chance to tolerate it once more and I can no longer watch it with that pure vision of a child. I’ve already said goodbye to that episode.
When we were having steamboat that afternoon, someone mentioned the “separation meal” of we group 8. My heart sank when I heard it. The familiar stabbing pain mounted inexorably. In my memory, I have been having so-called separation meals since the Collage Entrance Examination ended. That summer vacation before I went to HIT and that month before I went to NUS, I was invited to my classmates’ meal nearly every night. I clearly remembered that every time we said goodbye to each other, I was acutely aware that I was to cry. Maybe nobody cared, but I did. Nobody could heal me, including myself.
I don’t want to say goodbye to anyone, just as Hello says. Bridging course is a new beginning, but it will soon come to an end. I know that everything has an end. But I still don’t want to face the prank of life. Things vary over years. Meanwhile, we grow up and become mature. Different people come and go in my life. I don’t know what people chase after and even what I am pursuing in such a busy and prosperous society.
So I cherish every moment that I spend together with my friends. I believe that it is the most effective way to make me strong.

I think maybe it is hard for some of us to adjust to the new lifestyle, also to strike the balance between studying and playing...
But i think that our fellows in China have done pretty well although many of us are told that the undergraduates are incurably addicted to leisure and forget the initial task.
To "Ugly Japanese" (by Walter)
Since the poor geography condition Japan is under, Japanese has instinct great fear of crisis. That's why they invade our country, they never say sorry officially to Chinese, they spare no efforts learning or occupy everything they can approach to. They dare not say sorry because they feel feared!

Well I think being mature is not equal to become taking in people. It's just the ability to clarify bad from good, so you can protect yourself better. But sometime the white lies is desperately needed.

I've lost my way for uncountable times in the first two weeks here...
and it still happened last weekend, which led to the consequence
that I narrowly entered Eton Hall, just 1 min before the deadline...
One thing which should be emphasized was that I had forgotten to take my hand phone when I went out alone.
All the above happen are just because I misunderstood a native when she was trying to tell me the correct way...

Maybe it's a good choice to do things as a perfectionist except for ignoring the failures or treating them optimistically.

To "A New World" (By Charles)
It is really a neat article as your style all along.
But when enjoying the new life here, can we just consider life in China is just a dream?
Surely we cannot even China now become such a distant world from us.
Maybe you are trying to say the lifestyle and the warm surroundings have already been left behind and may will never be picked up again since we left from them,
as the poem puts it,"where can never be reached is the far far away,
where can never be returned to is the hometown"(though the translation is so poor).
We are all homesick, but we must be strong-minded to overcome it.
We are the fighters who is forgotten by the world we belong to, and who are being gently resisted by the new world we are trying to find our niche in.
Seemingly a quite hard work ,isn't it? But when fighting and dying exhausted, just think about our hometown and refresh the body and soul.
I think that's the point. And never forget so many partners or,"brothers", standing by you.
They are the ones who shoulder your lacrimosa and bring you the ecstasy.
Good luck for you!
To "A 'Boss'" (By Amy)
As your close roommate who have witnessed you staying up until late for the preparation,
I'm really angry about the person you mentioned.
How can he easily regard your efforts as nothing?
Your blog reminds me of the drama we performed that night.
I argued with one of my group members about our scription... He just was immersed in his own idea of the drama which totally couldn't be put into practice.
What's worse, he always wanted to change the drama even in the last minute before final show, thus he always was absent-minded when rehearsing.
As the director, I couldn't bear anymore...
But that's the music and we have to accept.
So just concentrate on your work, that's enough!

It's March 15th
Living abroad, I can’t help caring about what people think of China. Especially it is Singapore, a developed country which heavily relies on importing goods from neighborhood, China included.
China wins herself fame by the brand “Made in China”, symbolizing the low price, on the other side, the not so good quality as well. Even a Chinese himself will choose the Canon digital camera made in Japan instead of the ones made in China, because it is widely known that “made in Japan” has a better quality over “made in china”. Though a little bit frustrated, we have to admit it is the truth.
When the government is trying to improving China’s international economy status by combining the high quality together with the cheap price, many factories still cut the cost of the material they use, the hygiene they have to ensure, the quality monitoring, or the equipment they need to install, etc. to make bigger profits, by which the brand “ Made in China” is spoilt. But the fact is, while “Made in China” is becoming less and less competitive by losing its quality, “Made in Brazil”, “Made in India”, “Made in Indonesia” and other brand are rising. Although there has already some internal company trying so, they usually dominate little market. At the same time, China is losing another big competitive factor, that is, the labor’s price is no longer cheap but is increasing step by step. Along with the development progress, China will be taken away the title“the global manufacturer”. So now we must shift the focus from price to quality, namely transfer the mainstay industry from making to technique, but remain our economic independence. In this way we can guarantee the consumer’s right and also our own future.
On the other hand, we shall not only improve our quality of goods but also the after sale service, making our consumers trust our products. One of another reason why people choose the mobile phone Nokia or LG or Sumsang instead of the internal obscure mobile phone brand is their trustworthy after- sale service. So once we improve our quality as well as the after-sale service, the market will be improved despite the rise in price.
But we cannot owe all the fault to the industry. Industry under the market economy is eternally pursuing the biggest profits with the least cost. So we must cut off the profit resource, that is to say, for the group whose financial situation permits, they must choose the good ones. Once this is done, the decline of the market will force the industry to focus on improving its quality and service.
As a consumer, I think we cannot only demand for protection, but also consider for our country.
The End, the Beginning, or Just a Stop
We are going to have a break, right in the middle of bridging course. It is the end of previous study, while the beginning of what we are going to face. It is just a stop, a short stop for us to have a quick rest and recover and then prepare for what the future has in store for us. What I hold for this recess is mixed with both longing and a little bit sorrow.
Yearning for the vocation has been a compulsory job for me since I started my journey of learning. A vocation, whether it’s long or short, can always bring pure happiness and fun to students, no matter they are from a primary school, a secondary school, or even a university. However I do not think I have the qualification to say that I have been suffering a lot during the bridging course, which goes totally in shade in comparison with what we have suffered in our high schools in China. The tiredness and vapidity is inevitable. I cannot resist. What I am longing for is just a rest, a good rest.
While I am looking forward for the approaching recess, a taste of bitterness and sorrow is growing in my heart. It dawns on me that we have already finished half of our bridging course in such a short time. I do not want to sigh “time flies” any more. No matter I am sighing, yearning, or resisting, time can always keep his accurate pace, a pace I can hardly realize until I lose, a pace I can seldom feel until I waste.
However hard I resist, I have to confess the fact that our bridging courses are going to an end, our group eight are going to separate, we are going to different direction toward our own dream, just like when the ball is over, everyone should leave.
Just a short stop here, we get-together, chat, laugh…and leave. This is our bridging course. We are doomed to leave in the direction of our own dream, in the way to our own terminal. It’s just a stop here, a short stop, a quick stop.
I can sense that this is my last class with all classmates from PRC; this is the last time when I’m free to speak Chinese in any way I like, to anyone of my class.
But at least, we have another half of bridging, in which every minute, every second worth being cherished and treasured, with all of you, my dearest tutors and classmates.
the Media-Angel or Evil?
Felix is running through today’s newspaper; Wendy is making a phone call to make sure where to meet her friends at canteen; Unicorn is online, searching for an appropriate picinic place to spend our recess; …as for me, I am busy writing my blog on my laptop.
Our daily life is stuffed with all sorts of media, like newspapers, telephones, computers and TV. They play a rather vital role nowadays. Had they been taken away, how could we survive? It must be a nightmare. If our ancestors could travel ahead by a time machine to have a look at our present world, they must be shocked, or scared. It’s hard to understand that after a simple click on a little “mouse”, colorful pictures and videos dash out, “performing” on a bright “board”, while during their time not until a distant battle was over were they aware of what a bloody moment was happening around. But nowadays, as long as we want, even events taking place on the other hemisphere is not unavailable any longer. As we are dying for efficiency, information rushes to us in a frenetic pace by various high technologies.
However, negative effects are also obvious along with media’s convenience. For example, some bad businessmen making big profit by spreading plenty of pronographic pictures or videos. We have to admit that it’s not practical to purge all the unhealthy information on the internet. As the recent event, a sharp conflict between Chinese censorship and google engine leads to a serious deadlock. Through google, a great deal unhealthy source is exposed to the mass, among whom are countless juveniles lacking of self control. There’s no difficulty telling whether it’s good or not. In addition, the fast spread speed and unreliability result in problems as well. Just a few days ago, “Nicolas Sarkozy and Carla Bruni ‘both having affairs’!” hit the headline of many “mainstream” newspapers. This topic was so hot that it arrived at every corner of the world immediately. Yet, later it was revealed that the original news came from an unknown twitter. It was all made up by an intern journalist to test how fast a piece of unproved news would be spread through internet. It’s merely a trick! I guess, the test result has said everything successfully. Well, who is the most responsible for the slander? The tiny intern journalist who played the trick, the mainstream newspapers which brought the unproved gossip to the public, or the innocent-looking internet which actually offers a hotbed? It’s hard to give a non-controversial conclusion.
Old time people lived in a more pure world than we, whereas they didn’t have the joy and excitement of surfing on the highest wave of fast imformation as we have. Which life is better, who knows?
A sincere government
Do you still remember the incident which happened in Sinkiang on the fifth July last year? Some Uighurs which were agitated by some separatists attacked han people, robbed and burnt their shops. We got these information from the press. After hearing this incident, I was very angry with the separatists, and thought Uighurs badly. However, when I went to Jinlin University, I had a roommate from Sinkiang. He told me many things I never knew from the press. He said that they had no rights to demonstration and they were not allowed to say bad things about the government, even though the government really did something wrong. All the reports which had a bad impact on the government were deleted.
When I knew that I was very angry with the government. In my opinion, everyone in the world should have the right to speak out what they think in their mind. No one can prevent them including the government. As Voltaire said: “I may not disapprove of what you say, but I defend to the death your right to say it.” As we all know, the society is always going ahead. In the old days, people had no rights to speak out what they thought. So they fought for the right to speak. Now it is 21st century, a civilized society. Shouldn’t everyone have the right to speak? Maybe you will say someone will say some bad words against the government if they have rights to say anything. But what I want to say is as a normal person we all have the ability to identify whether the speeches are true or not. What’s more, if the government is really innocent, there is no need to debate it. They can prove themselves innocent by taking actual actions.
Besides, I think everyone should have the right to know, the government should not conceal the facts. A Chinese saying goes that paper can’t wrap fire. The facts will be exposed to the public someday. Hiding the facts can only make things worse. In contrast, if the government confesses its mistakes and doesn’t conceal the facts, the public will be more likely to forgive it. Because even if immortals are not perfect let alone a government. Besides, people like an honest government.
I hope our government will be more sincere. Only in that way is the government an eligible government; china can be stronger and stronger.
Never Too Late for Success
To be honest, we often have this thought. When we were in senior high school, review was of the essence before the examination, it was also the chance for us to find out the parts we had forgotten. But somebody just thought that it was hard to learn so many things again at such a short time. “It is too late for success.” After said that, they did nothing but to wait, without doubt, they would have to face the failure.
If you not well prepared, you would not be successful. But whether it was too late for success? The answer is no. If they never gave up, the results will be different. They cared too much about the past which couldn’t be changed, without noticing that they also had time to success. “Never too late for success.” It is not said for fun but tells us the truth to be successful. So, do your best to try it and never give up.
As the same, in our life, it is never too late for success. Whether you are young or old, try to do it and you will success. Lots of peoples were far from being geniuses in their teens like Edison and Darwin. They are given to daydreaming, indecision, and showed no promise to be successful. But they never thought it was too late for success. So they succeed.
This blog is not just written for you, but also for myself, who has no confidence to learn English well. I believe that it is never to learn English well.
OH MY GOD! My Money Has Run Out!
So in this weekend, I was busy, tired but really excited. At the same time, I spent lot money, 439+308+200+305=1252$. Oh my god, I had never experienced to spend so much money in such a short time. And the bad result is that the money in my card is only 150$, I don’t how can I spend the rest time in the next one and half month. I believe it must be very hard. - -!
Barbie VS Transformer
- There are so many world-wild popular toys in our daily life, while two of them stand out among all of them. One of them is Barbie, the other is Transformer. These two toys keep up with a whole generation, and earn a very high reputation among human. In spite of their success, there exist a lot of differences between them.
- One of the obvious differences between the two toys is their original. At first the founder of Barbie got inspiration from her daughter, and then made some changes to German toy Lily, later she made the toy which now is known as Barbie Girl. When the girl was promoted to market, it soon became a best-seller. The success of Barbie is beyond everyone’s expectation. In contrast, transformer is known as the Japanese toy which was named as Diaclone and Microman at its very beginning. The Japanese “Transformer” was not successful, so later it was sold to American Hasbro. After Hasbro’s making lots of changes and making some cartoons based on it, the American Transformer finally became a success!
- In addition, the position where they are set in the market is totally different. Barbies aim at appeal to girls, no matter old or young. The perfect index of Barbie cannot be reached by any human, but it is a dream to every girl. Every girl had a Barbie in their inner heart. And in their real life they want a thing to contain their dream about beauty, which is the reason why Barbie exists in every corner in the world. As an ad says where there is a dream there is a Barbie. On the other hand, Transformer sets male as its target. Because the world of Transformer is designed in another planet, and it tells a story about battling the enemy and keeping the peace of their own planet, all this can easily wake up the inner desire of male to be a hero. Every male want to be a certain hero in the Transformer family. In this way, Transformer starts to boom!
- The market managing is another character that distinguishes them. Every year Barbie would change her career and her accessories such as hair style, clothing style, even face according to the trend of human’s real life. But her charming is always unchangeable. Every year Barbie would lead a kind of fashion. While Transformer family makes little change to its members. What make Transformer never out of fashion is that his company would make a series of cartoons and, of course, movie now and then. These stories make Transformer fans get crazy and let their passion grow stronger and stronger.
- Though both of them enjoy an extraordinary success, they differ from each other in these three ways. The two companies have a clear concept of their own, and have a good knowledge of their market as well as their opponents. Their existences make our life more colorful!
To be or not to be
On the contrary he also showed his appreciation for our still being naive, being innocent at this age in one class. “You know what. You guys look so different from Singaporean students at the same age as you.You just look puerer.I mean they get to know too many things at too early an age such as the power of money, the power of fame or something like that. What they value is mainly money. But as far as I know, you Chinese students value knowledge more.Singaporeans are more practical. ”
So,here comes the problem which has been confusing me for a long time that whether we can be both naive and insightful. It seems like a paradox, doesn’t it? “Naive” means people or their behavior is innocent and simple whereas “insightful” means showing a clear understanding of a person or situation based on rich knowledge or experience. If we were insightful,we must have experienced and read a lot about our community, our society and our world. We would know not only is there good in this world, there also exists evil.We would get to know many things just like Singaporeans. Then how can we still appear naive?
Yeah,I have to admit that sometimes I do feel that I am too naive or in other words, too childish.I still believe in some unrealistically happy or perfect things.I still tend to trust people so easily that my mum once said: “You must never do business in the future because you will probably be swindled to death.”
But why on earth do Chinese students especially those who majored in science seem rather naive? In my opinion,it has something to do with the education we’ve receievd. In China, the focus of a student’s life is always study which means we are kind of cut off from the outside world and have little chance to learn more about the world. For students who major in arts, the situation is a little better because they can know more about the world in their history and politics classes. For science students, however,we deal with maths, physics ,chemistry or biology all day long. That is to say,we deal with numbers, fomulas and experiments all day and many of those scientists we admire are also crazy explorers, totally absorbed in their research and ignoring the outside world or even their close families.Having been educated in such an academic atmosphere,we tend to consider social problems in too simpleor direct a way just like when we are facing a maths or physics problem,we always try to find the simplest method to solve it out of habit. And this may result from our lack in experience of real life.
It can’t be denied that in order to survive in this actually complicated modern society,we need to be sophisticated and even somewhat tactful. But to tell the truth,I really really resist losing that kind of innocence and getting to know the dark sides of the world, which explains why I refuse to watch WoJu,haha~
My grandfather, my father and I
Obviously, my grandfather is among the Baby boomers. But he was not living like others in the same group. My grandfather was born in a very poor family and all of the elders of the family were farmers. What was worse, my grandfather was the only child of that poor family and when he was born, my grandfather's father was already more than 50 years old and died just about several years later. It was a terrible thing in that age of chaos because it meant my grandfather didn't have the chance to get education and also had to work for the family very young. In addition, he also had to suffer from others' bad treatment. What story impressed me about him was that during the Cultural Revolution of China, he was forced put into the prison. And when he stepped into the house after released, my elder uncle just ran to my grandmother and cried, " Oh, mum, another beggar is coming". When my grandfather told the story to me, he was just laughing. But I surely knew what he felt at that time. However, my grandfather was a strong man in mind. He worked hard and lived better than before, even though still very poor. What I want to infer then is that my grandfather had 8 children, 5 sons and 3 daughters just in that poor situation, and brought them up healthily.
My father is Generation X but he also don't have much in common among that group, Generation X. Perhaps my father was influenced by the poor situation of the family, he stopped study after fifth grade and helped with the farming. What different from my grandfather was that my father joined the people who went into the city and worked in the factories together with my mom when I was about 6 years old. The citizens always looked down to the farmers who worked as workers in the city because they thought they didn't get high education and only could do hard work all by hand. But just at that situation, he worked hard and got the low paying to supply the family. He gave the chance for me and my brother to study in the city, and he tried a new way to give a better life to his family even though he got disease later.
I am Generation Y and I'm really glad to be in this group. I lived through my childhood in the village with my grandparents and moved to the city for study with my parents when I was at fifth grate. I experienced the hard time in life, the poor living situation, the low level education and so on. And also I was lucky to get the chance study in city . So I understood the real worthy things we should do in life. We should value the good life and try for our best life. What's more, my grandfather and my father teach me a lot of things from their own experiences. I should be hard-working just like them, and also I should challenge to life and never give up.
The Ugly Japanese

Recently, I have finished reading a book named The Ugly Japanese which reveals both bright and dark aspects of Japanese. The whole book focuses on four parts: spirits, culture, life, society, and bushido. I’d rather choose something left me a deep impression.
First, I’m shocked to know that, Tennoism (天皇制度) plays an significant role in Japanese incredibly. Teenagers especially solders, are very sensitive and aggressive. In their mind, there is no right and worry, let alone distinguishes ability. The only value they have is whether they are loyal to the Tennoism. That is why Japanese have the courage to pilot a plane and hit the aircraft carrier directly in the battles. Japanese women show their loyalty by coming forward to the war fields and comforting solders both mentally and physically. In history, Jingshang Qingyi, one of the most brutal leaders in 1930s, once hated to join in the war soon after his honeymoon because the war forced him to tear away his lover. The day before recruitment, the wife noticed this and committed suicide making his husband drop the idea forever and motivating him to be brave. Finally, this guy led the famous murder case in PingDing maintain!
The education in Japan is interesting. I heard before, that Japanese children are supposed to exercise nakedly outside in cold winter in aim at improving their ability against the cold. But, it’s my first time to know that, the so-called education in Japan actually means no education ! Everyone wants to study in famous university like Tokyo University. It’s also a reasonable condition that you must come from prestigious senior and junior high schools. However, how can a child go to junior high turns out to have no relationship with primary school! Only high-fee public schools foreshadow the bright future while most private schools object children to study! In order to give them a happy childhood, these schools don’t educate them at all. To what extent does this “no-education” goes? For example, they claim: Do not regard π(pi) as 3.14 ! It is too difficult! Just remember it as 3! They just know the three words “Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday” which are too complex to remember! Hope there won’t be any activity in Thursday otherwise, they might get in trouble.
Since Japan has mush complex and unforgettable relationship with China in history, we Chinese are all sensitive to this “special” country. Just write something about it to show the diversity of the world and remember the history.
Reflections on Tuesdays with Morrie
A warm-hearted local senior lent me the book, Tuesdays with Morrie, which tells about 14 lessons that a dying old professional, Morrie, gave to his student, Mitch. Weak but respectable Morrie developed Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), the same disease with famous scientist Hawking. Also like Hawking, Morrie wasn’t beaten by the incurable disease. He didn’t write an “A Brief History of Time”, though. He continued fighting with fate and kept optimistic all the time. He spent time observing people around him, encouraging them, giving good advice and teach lessons that can be learned only when you are dying. Hawing centered on science, while Morrie on human beings.
He said “The most important thing in life is to learn how to give out love and to let it come in. . .. . . Love is the only rational act.” He also said “The way you get meaning into your life is to devote yourself to loving others, devote yourself to your community around you, and devote yourself to creating something that gives you purpose and meaning.” He thinks highly of love. We also know it, but we cannot do it, because loving others will certainly occupy the time which we have planned to spend on playing, studying or working. Should we work hard and neglect to accept love and give love or just do on the contrary? That is to say, do you want to have a high salary and good reputation or just an ordinary but happy life?
Amy said to me we all would finally reach the level where love is more important when we are old. But now, it’s OK for us to pursue wealth and fame, for it is also a period of time for growing up, which deserves our experiencing.
What’s your opinion then?
Save The “Diligent Man” Before It Is Too Late
In our senior high, the only duty is to study. The harder you work, the happier your parents will be. Many teachers don’t even care about those students with low marks, they only want their top students get higher mark. My senior high is called the best high school in Liaoning Province. It’s very familiar that teachers have after-class lessons. This so-called “after-class lessons” are not really started only after class and some of them are expensive because our teachers are famous. And I think in most provinces it’s the same.
So you can see Chinese high school students are really having a hard time, especially in the third year. It’s still a nightmare of mine. I have to sleep everyday at 2 or 3 a.m. and get up at 6:30 . This terrible status lasted for nearly one year and makes me have a habit that I can’t fell asleep before 1 a.m. You can image how fresh students will feel when they go to college. What’s worse, the birthday for eighteenth of most students comes at the last year of senior high. Parents always say to their children that since you are an adult, you have your freedom to decide for yourself. In fact, we do decide for ourselves, but many of us just decide how to play well in college rather than how to plan for the future. I saw a picture on RENREN that in Yale, many students get up early to study. The study room is crowded even though it’s just 5 a.m. We should realize that when we are playing games, on the other side of the world, students are studying hard. As the world become international, they will be our competitive adversaries when we both graduate from college. We should know that just coming to NUS doesn’t mean we will success in the future.
Is your “diligent man” killed by your lazily? I hope not. So save him before it is too late, not only for him, but also for ourselves.
My New Mobile Phone

Yesterday, there was an IT show at Suntec. It was said that this IT show was one of the most popular exhibition in Southeast Asia and more than 100,000 visitors would enjoy their time during the five-days show exhibition.
Well, to tell the truth, the first impression this show gave me was that you couldn't find your step for a great quantities of visitors were there. But luckily, I found what I searched for very soon. That was--TATTOO, a cute phone made by HTC. One of my best friends suggested me buying it,though I had known nothing about Tattoo. He said that Tattoo was very reasonable for its price with many advanced functions, such as suffering the Internet, playing JAVA games, etc. What's more, owners would be fond of its shape and got used to Tattoo over a short period. Therefore, just trying it!
Lastly, I bought this mobile phone, though to me, the price was nearly unaffordable. In other words, Tattoo costs me three-months money spending on food^+^~~! Oh,God.
However, I found myself fall in love with Tattoo gradually. It just weights 113 grams with the dimensions, 106*55.2*14 mm.And amazingly, Tattoo allows you share your life adventure via easy photo and video uploads to your favorite social networking sites, like QQ, Facebook, Twitter and Flickr. So from now on, I don't bother to carry my heavy computer in order to chat with my friends, steal their vegetables and write my diary. What's more, watching youtube through mobile in NUS is no longer impossible. Well, this kind of innovation always makes our teen's life easier and less bumpy, many thanks to their designer and producer!

Special Generation Y
Frequently I feel grateful and content with my situation. Looking back and forth, we are fortunate to be generation y! But the fact is, many people don’t realize how lucky they really are.
Especially for us Chinese students, we were born when china was just on its right path of development both in politics and economy. I can’t remember those historical moments, but when I recall what was like before and what is now, there is definitely a dramatic change. The best part is that we can both experience a poor life and a rich one. That means we can lead a comfortable life while being acknowledged of importance of exertion, which not everyone is privileged with. For my own case, I witnessed my parents striving to earn a better living, as both of them were from rural areas. Thanks for their effort, we moved from a small rented room to a flat, then a larger and better one. The memory that all three of us stayed in one room, I doing homework, mother preparing for dinner and father watching news on a super small TV remained vivid in my mind. I’m convinced that life is fair. For my parents, since they’ve gone through hardships, they enjoy the present life very much now. What’s more, I’m endowed with an optimistic temperament.
I believe my experience is nor a unique one. Many parents of us are baby boomers. They are conscious of the significance of education and the direction of our development. Many of us may complain about the strictness of parents about our study. In my opinion, they have the world of right to monitor our education, and they’re supposed to. If they let us be, how could we have achieved such achievements? Of course, the achievements I’m talking about are not only academic, but also artistic, intellectual and so on. For a simple example, it is common that parents force or persuade children to learn drawing, chess, or various kinds of musical instruments. It might seem not fun for us. But still, from my own experience, developing an interest brings you a feeling of plenitude, which you’ll aspire to without one. Besides, a gift is training in intelligence, useful now and may be useful in future. More importantly, it’s a loyal friend and a beautiful memory kept since childhood.
Apart from the advantages of virtue and education, we are witness to a lot of big events, and able to enjoy both before and after the event. For instance, when I was 10 years old, a computer became part of my home. I appreciate the convenience and fun it brings to me, but I also enjoy out door activities and indulge in the beauty of nature. We welcomed the new millennium, witnessed the grand Peking 2008 Olympic Games and so on. Those experiences cannot add to our intelligence, but after all, the feeling of pride and gratitude is another form of fortune and wealth.
Generation gap
“You should always remember not to waste money, as now you are far away from your mother and me; you need to learn to make a plan of your own living expenses……”
“I know what you are worrying about, really no need! Now what I want to do is to enjoy my life here, not to save money for my future. We should search for entertainment impromptu.”
Above was my daily conversation on the phone with my father the very first days after coming to
My father tends to save enough before buying a house or a car whereas in my opinion, I’d like to apply for a loan to buy them in my early life, though I have to pay it off the rest of my life. He views hard work as the most effective way to success while I think cleverness is more important. In addition, he focuses more on the procedure but I emphasize the result.
So many differences that generation gaps comes into being. The disagreements between parents and children can always lead to quarrels which hurt both sides. To avoid this, I come out with a good idea. That is to change a topic when I feel we are about to argue. Really a productive method, and I’d like to recommend it to you!
experiencing the course
Firstly of all, I should say that the oral report is really good. Since we don't have too many chances to use English in daily life as Chinese is widely used in Singapore, this kind of learning method forced us to speak out. What's more, we also practise how to speak n front of people, which needs quite a lot of courage. Take myself for example, I seldom speak in public before. However, after all those oral reports, I at least overcome the nerve.
In China, we learnt English mostly on the purpose to read instead of using. As a result, we didn't pay much attention on the spoken English and focused too much on grammar. On the contrast, here in Singapore, we learn English to use it not only in daily life but also in lectures. Meanwhile, speaking to the public is an important skill for us too. For these two reasons, oral report does a lot of good to us.
Second, the essays are also a big challenge to us. In fact, I've never written a article more than 150 words in China before. But the essays we wrote in this course are required to be less than 500 words, which is a sharp contrast. Maybe it was a little bit difficult at the beginning, but as we practised and practised, words limit is no longer a problem and some of us can even write more than 500. The essays we wrote also help us think more critically when we learn to structure English. As we can write longer and longer essays, our abilities to use English improve too.
There are other means used to help us to learn English too. All the course has provide to us benefit us a lot. The blog, the silent reading in the morning and the story books are all focused on to improve our English in different aspects. However, I have to say that the course is also a little stressful too. With so many homework and no noon-break , I really should rest myself in the coming recess.

Recover soon, my friend
He and I came from the same university in China. All my roommates who were also from my former university also wanted to see him. I was told that he was in Alexandra Hospital which was quite near Eton Hall. So without having supper, we quickly headed towards the hospital after alighting the bus.
Finally we got to his room and found him pale in bed, with oxygen pipe on nose. His classmates from Labrador had already come and were around him. When he saw us, he smiled and put up a finger to greet us as he used to do. “What’s up?” we asked concerned. Then he explained in a weak voice. We were told that there was something wrong with his lung. Last day he found he couldn’t breathe well, so he went to the hospital. After examining, the doctor told him the membrane of his lung was pierced, so air could go into his lung easily, then there was no pressure difference between in and out of his lung which leaded to his difficulty breath. Today was only the observation time, if there was something unusual happened during this time, an operation was inevitable. What was worse, if he was made sure he had a pneumothorax, he would say goodbye to basketball which was his favorite.
After hearing this, all of us were upset and encouraged him to overcome the disease and hoped he would recover soon. He was very optimistic, talking to us with a smiling face and sometimes used his finger to make fun as if the one who was ill wasn’t him, but us. At last we decided to come to see him frequently as our hostel was near the hospital.
Recover soon, mu friend!
My Attitude Towards Love
Love is a kind of friendship. But it is stronger than friendship. When a girl and a boy fall in love with each other, they will miss each other all the time. Friendship can not top that. Some people failed in their love fair before or has some hideous experiences about love. They will become negative. They do not want to marry and just think that they can live happily with their good friends. From my personal opinion, it is important for us to find a loving relationship with someone because a loved one is so important. Especially when you are not doing or feeling so well, friends are well, but friends are not going to be here on a night when you cannot sleep or coughing. Someone has to sit up all night with you, comfort you. They are your beloved.
The poor kids today, either they are too selfish to take part in a real loving relationship, or they rush into marriage and then six months later they get divorced. They do not who they are themselves. So how can they now who they are marrying. Convenient marriage is not good. You have to make your decision after thinking deeply.

Miss My Mentor(YSN)
You are humorous. When I close my eyes every Thursday night, your impressive words as well as actions will appear vividly in my mind. Your facial expressions are so cute that I can’t help laughing.
I got to like you even the first time I met you. Because I knew the person who step in the classroom that morning would be my mentor. During the weeks, I feel I like you more and more. You’re so kind that you brought us dried meat and confectioneries. You’re so attractive that you made up original stories and gave us inspiration. You’re so sophisticated that you informed us so much from cuisine to history. You make us feel comfortable. It seems that you are our friend or relative more than a tutor.
To be frank, I was yearning for our tour long time ago. I thought it would be definitely interesting to go out with such a lively person as you. So, you know, I have been waiting for it for a long time. Sometimes you didn’t show up on Thursdays. Sometimes you coughed now and then as you were talking with us. Are you still busy now? Are you still in good health? Are you missing us? Are you…?
I do miss you. Maybe I’m not so active or participative in your classes, but I really enjoy them. I hope you are fine and wish you a nice weekend.

Weblife in Eton
I have typed my blog since Thursday and when I finished it, it was already Sunday afternoon. It was about my comments of the movie the Joy Luck Club we watched on Thursday afternoon. I was proud with the blog because in my view, it was relatively good and show my own opinion. Happily I saved my draft in the Micro soft office word and paste it on the publish web page, thinking what kind of comment it would receive. But as soon as I clicked the button “publish”, the page suddenly jumped into the hint “ Navigation Blocked”, and the internet required me to log in again using the account we were given in Eton. I was shocked, but not knowing what happened, I input my name and the password, then clicked the button submit in tenseness. A dialog window suddenly jumped out on the screen, warning me I have already logged in so another account is needed. How come! I tried several times but turned out to be in vain. The stubborn system simply was reluctant to let me submit.
After I repeated connecting and disconnecting the wireless web for several times, the laptop eventually displayed the page to me. But then I got so frustrated that I almost can’t help throwing the laptop down out of the window! The whole blog, which cost me around 3 days, was completely gone! I really got driven mad this time.
Today I came across the tragedy… But maybe it can help me to raise enough RP to overcome the trouble in the future~

Mornitors Everywhere
I always wonder why class monitors are called monitors anyway. Literally, that is a position teachers use to monitor the whole class. In primary school, whenever anyone makes any mistake, the monitor just inform on the teacher ruthlessly. Strangely enough, none of us feel uncomfortable when young. Maybe we’ve been made accustomed to monitors since childhood.
When we grow older, the function of class monitors changes dramatically. However, we are still far from getting rid of being watched but under control of electronic monitors. They appear everywhere, such as on the street, in the shop, bank, office, even classroom. Many of us feel not easy and violated, which I totally understand. No one has the right to know my personal life. But when it comes to monitoring, it’s not the same circumstance at all. Let’s face it, who in front of the screen will be interested in your righteous behavior? They’re professional. Even if they’re not, after watching so many records, they only search for suspicious people. Actually, you’ll only be looked at, but not seen. In that case, how should it affect you?
It should be admitted that monitors are part of our lives. I don’t really think there is any need for us to be uncomfortable about them. Maybe it’s an inappropriate metaphor, but the way monitors intrudes privacy is just like mobile phones intrudes leisure. Without alarm or invitation, they come into our lives. No compromise.
But how can we complain about that? Monitors are necessary just like mobile phones. We have to confess it is us who made them necessary. Human beings need disciplines out of nature. For instance, when I ask myself, “Will you obey the rule not to deal with personal emails at work when there is no monitor”, I’m sorry to say my answer is an absolute no. It’s not unreasonable that we don’t trust rashly. Though we may not like monitors, they help the world function normally and more efficiently.
However, when it comes to personal life, it’s totally a different story. Like in the movie The Trueman Show, the narrator lived monitored unknowingly. It was so horrible when he found that people all around him were actually actors and lying to him. I haven’t watched the movie, but sheer the idea quite shocked me.
Conclusively, the wide use of monitors has both advantages and disadvantages. But we all have to accept their existence and live an undisturbed, undistracted life. Monitors are not supposed to affect us, but to benefit us, because benefiting the world is benefiting us own.
The conflict (4)
First, China and American have different cultures, which have a strong influence on people’s thoughts. And most conflicts are caused by the different thoughts. The right thing in a country can be illogical or even totally wrong in another country. So, a misreading appears and if the misreading is big enough, people begin to be hostile to the people in that country. And then, the misreading widens the gulf between the two sides and finally causes the conflict, or the war. America is a strong religious country, where about 65% people attach importance to religion. It is said that nearly half of American go to church every weekend. But China is a country where most people are free thinkers. They think the religion is not very important and just can’t understand American. Even though the differences of cultures don’t lead China and America into a war, they still cause some misunderstandings in some places.
Second, the opacity of information between two countries also has effects on the relationship. The world is much smaller than it used to be because of the process from science and technology and people can search the information on the Internet, but the information couldn’t always be transparent, and sometimes it even mislead us, especially that from official medium. When I was in China, all I got from the TV were the bright side but the most controversial issues were simplified, or even ignored. The same things also happen in America. In China, the information about the war between China and Vietnam is difficult to find. In America, the things about the war are a little different from the fact. Sometimes, the official medium makes some mistakes “carelessly”. As far as I know, the pictures of the reports about XiZang issue were unreal. The “careless” mistakes made the misunderstanding more serious.
The last reason is the system. As we all know, America is capitalist country but China is a communistic country, the conflict between them are not only the fight of country’s abilities but also the fight of systems. It is hard to say which one is better, but I think we can live together harmoniously, instead of treating others as enemies.
As there is such a big misunderstanding between the two countries, I think it is our duty to learn English well and deal with the problem. I really hope that all the people live like friends.
