Recently, I have finished reading a book named The Ugly Japanese which reveals both bright and dark aspects of Japanese. The whole book focuses on four parts: spirits, culture, life, society, and bushido. I’d rather choose something left me a deep impression.
First, I’m shocked to know that, Tennoism (天皇制度) plays an significant role in Japanese incredibly. Teenagers especially solders, are very sensitive and aggressive. In their mind, there is no right and worry, let alone distinguishes ability. The only value they have is whether they are loyal to the Tennoism. That is why Japanese have the courage to pilot a plane and hit the aircraft carrier directly in the battles. Japanese women show their loyalty by coming forward to the war fields and comforting solders both mentally and physically. In history, Jingshang Qingyi, one of the most brutal leaders in 1930s, once hated to join in the war soon after his honeymoon because the war forced him to tear away his lover. The day before recruitment, the wife noticed this and committed suicide making his husband drop the idea forever and motivating him to be brave. Finally, this guy led the famous murder case in PingDing maintain!
The education in Japan is interesting. I heard before, that Japanese children are supposed to exercise nakedly outside in cold winter in aim at improving their ability against the cold. But, it’s my first time to know that, the so-called education in Japan actually means no education ! Everyone wants to study in famous university like Tokyo University. It’s also a reasonable condition that you must come from prestigious senior and junior high schools. However, how can a child go to junior high turns out to have no relationship with primary school! Only high-fee public schools foreshadow the bright future while most private schools object children to study! In order to give them a happy childhood, these schools don’t educate them at all. To what extent does this “no-education” goes? For example, they claim: Do not regard π(pi) as 3.14 ! It is too difficult! Just remember it as 3! They just know the three words “Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday” which are too complex to remember! Hope there won’t be any activity in Thursday otherwise, they might get in trouble.
Since Japan has mush complex and unforgettable relationship with China in history, we Chinese are all sensitive to this “special” country. Just write something about it to show the diversity of the world and remember the history.
Yeah,I've heard about this book.The writer was a Japanese ambassador,but after he wrote the book he was dismissed by Japanese government.Poor man==!

It's poor of those Japanese young generations because they even don't have the access to get to the true history!
ReplyDeleteSince the poor geography condition Japan is under, Japanese has instinct great fear of crisis. That's why they invade our country, they never say sorry officially to Chinese, they spare no efforts learning or occupy everything they can approach to. They dare not say sorry because they feel feared!
ReplyDeleteJapan rises very quickly after the second world war. You say japanese has "on-education", i don't know whether it is true or not. But one thing i have to admire them is their long-term strategic. They can tell the direction of the development of the society accurately. I think that's the reason why it rises so quickly.
