To begin with, which countries or regions do you think are most democratic in the world, the United States? Taiwan? Or some other western countries? Well, most of you will give me the above answers, because people in these countries or regions have their rights to vote,to select the President they like,to declare themselves without any fear.In Britain, labour unions will direct a march if their labourers are not satisfied with the salary. In Korean, even Buddhist monks will revolt against the government when they think there is nothing to do.But what about other developing countries in Asia,Africa, and South America.People there live in a low life standard, they work all day along to get food and clean water.Even though, many people are starving due to the unfair social system. What they really lack of,perhaps,is not how much money they can earn, but how important they are,or in what way they are treated in their own country. When people have access to the right to declare themselves, they will be strong enough to get the power to govern the country. When a country runs properly and democratically, people's life standard will improve dramatically. That is how developed countries developed over centuries.
As a Chinese, I think, about a hundred years ago, people like Sun Zhongshan,Cheng Duxiu had already knew what a new democratic China looked like. And I do believe that today's China is in its way to find and achieve the unique eastern democracy!
Many students I know are strongly against democracy in china. More or less I get their point. But I share your opinion that I believe China is working very hard towards it. hehe~~ I am always a firm patriot:) But I wonder is democracy useful in present China? We don't apply capitalism completely after all. Sometimes I think we need to adopt the policy that Ms Thatcher carried out before. Maybe too late. Chinese people's minds are much too open and western now. It's good in some aspects, but perhaps not in other.
