Do you still remember the incident which happened in Sinkiang on the fifth July last year? Some Uighurs which were agitated by some separatists attacked han people, robbed and burnt their shops. We got these information from the press. After hearing this incident, I was very angry with the separatists, and thought Uighurs badly. However, when I went to Jinlin University, I had a roommate from Sinkiang. He told me many things I never knew from the press. He said that they had no rights to demonstration and they were not allowed to say bad things about the government, even though the government really did something wrong. All the reports which had a bad impact on the government were deleted.
When I knew that I was very angry with the government. In my opinion, everyone in the world should have the right to speak out what they think in their mind. No one can prevent them including the government. As Voltaire said: “I may not disapprove of what you say, but I defend to the death your right to say it.” As we all know, the society is always going ahead. In the old days, people had no rights to speak out what they thought. So they fought for the right to speak. Now it is 21st century, a civilized society. Shouldn’t everyone have the right to speak? Maybe you will say someone will say some bad words against the government if they have rights to say anything. But what I want to say is as a normal person we all have the ability to identify whether the speeches are true or not. What’s more, if the government is really innocent, there is no need to debate it. They can prove themselves innocent by taking actual actions.
Besides, I think everyone should have the right to know, the government should not conceal the facts. A Chinese saying goes that paper can’t wrap fire. The facts will be exposed to the public someday. Hiding the facts can only make things worse. In contrast, if the government confesses its mistakes and doesn’t conceal the facts, the public will be more likely to forgive it. Because even if immortals are not perfect let alone a government. Besides, people like an honest government.
I hope our government will be more sincere. Only in that way is the government an eligible government; china can be stronger and stronger.
Maybe that is just because China is still too young and can't be able to bear all the words or actions which aganist it. But surely we believe that our country will become stronger and stronger, and also solve all the questions that exist.
ReplyDeleteIsn't it sobering to realize that even the press is not impartial? You are right in that we always need to be critical about what we read and exercise wisdom. The problem is that not everyone has the ability to tell the truth apart from the lies.
ReplyDeleteWait for the government grow up, wait for the circumstance become more and more friendly to China, then I think it will be better~
